Captain Derek taking Zippy on a nice long cruise!
Him and Shelley went to Stock Island and back to Storymaker...
by land that's about 25 miles...not sure how far by water!
Bob and I had a date night Saturday before he left...
We woke up to it snowing! Bob was not too pleased considering he
was flying out in a couple of hours!
The boys are still on a 3 hour feeding schedule...you can literally set your clock to them! I did some research on how long before they will go to a longer schedule and it doesn't appear it will be any time soon. With them being premature it's harder for them to differentiate between night and day because there brain is still maturing. So between being premature and a low birth weight they sleep very lightly. These periods of light, or active, sleep are thought to help with their brain development. They say until the baby's development catches up, they will have more shallow and restless sleep than babies born at full term. As they get older they will have longer periods of deeper sleep!
We can see such a difference in the boys already and they are still in the negative age stage....technically they weren't due until March 6th! The one thing they do agree on is "bath time!" They love it!
They had a doctor's appointment this week and Andrew weighed in at an even 8 lbs, while Cameron came in at 8 lbs 7 oz! They had to have blood drawn to check on their iron count....Jenny had low iron deficiency while she was pregnant...they just want to make sure the boys are doing good!
They're Uncle Don and Aunt Paula from Iowa sent them a box of Newborn diapers. That will be the last box of newborn diapers they will be wearing. They are already growing out of them! A big thank you from Uncle Don and Aunt Paula!
Another thank you goes out to Miss Stephanie (mom's friend) for bringing some sweet potato soup over....it was totally delicious with the perfect amount of spice(s)!
Jen and I were talking about how each baby has his own personality already! We picture Andrew as being laid back with a book in his hand somewhere in a quiet spot, and Cameron on the other hand, will be in the kitchen pulling out all the pots and pans and banging on them! Cameron definitely has a "hey can't you hear me screaming for something" personality...while Andrew just looks at you and says "OK, I'll wait until you finish with him...." They are both just so adorable!
Derek and Shelley enjoyed coming to Key West last week. It sounds like they had a great time and are now "locals" and if need be, we can contact them about any questions we may have and they will help us out! I'm glad they had a great time and I really, really, appreciate them going down and staying on Storymaker while Bob came back to Baltimore for his training.
Bob came back on Tuesday afternoon and was able to spend some quality time with the boys finally. He also went up to Bel Air and saw Len and his brother Bill. He even got a fire call in! Only 49 more to go! He took his Harley Davidson training on Saturday and Saturday night we had a date night. We stayed at one of the local hotels down here in Baltimore and did lots of fun things. We drank 3 bottles of champagne, hit the hot tub, walked around the hotel - there was a heart convention going on and everyone was dressed in red gowns and the men were in tuxes! It was really quite beautiful to watch everyone coming in. I even hit the gym before Bob showed up - did a little cardio and lots of lifting...it felt really good!
Bob left Sunday. He was schedule to fly out at 1:10 but it was postponed 3 times and he didn't actually board until 3 p.m. Then he sat on the runway for an hour so the crews had to come out and deice the plane before they could take off. Too make a long story shorter, he missed his flight coming into Miami, had to get on another one, boarded, and the pilot didn't show up! So everyone had to get off the plane again and 49 out of the 50 passengers decided to take a bus to Key West. He finally got to the boat at 0145 this morning, with no luggage. He was supposed to leave today but that isn't happening now....we are hoping he gets a weather window on Wednesday! It takes 3 days to get to Miami and from there he has to go out in the ocean. Right now, it looks like Saturday is going to be the ocean day but first he has to get to Miami! Will keep you posted!
