Meet Chef Cal (Jon's Dad)
He and Dot (Jon's mom) moved into Danbury Forest Community in VA.
in 1975. One day in February of 2006 he was walking home from a community meeting
when he suddenly realized he had lived half his life in this community. When he got home
he sat down and began to reminisce about he and Dot moving to Virginia and the community, getting to know all the folks who lived here, raising their children and all the went along with that, as well as always enjoying what they called home. So he decided to write about those experiences and offered what he wrote for publication in the community newspaper, as just an article from a resident. He has been writing for them for over eight years now, one each month. He calls his submissions "The Chef's Corner," since he was the CEO and Executive Chef of "Dinner Is Served" Personal Chef Service, LLC. So naturally, being a Chef, he attached a recipe with each article he submitted, often tying the article and recipe together. So many people told him he should write a book and assured him that even folks who did not live here in Danbury Forest would enjoy reading the stories. So he sat down and thought about the best place to begin and published.....
The Ramblings of an Old Man
I gotta tell you, no favoritism here, this is a great book. He's an excellent writer, and he admits that some of the story ideas were not his original thoughts, just as some of the recipes are not his original recipes. They come from a variety of sources with whom he gives credit to each and every one of them. This book, story if I may, can be anyone's story. It makes you want to write your own story. Maybe I'm relating to it so much because I live on "Storymaker" it's what life is all about!
If you think you would be interested in getting one of his books all you have to do is google Amazon books The Ramblings of an Old Man and it is the first one that pops up!

Bobby on his way into town....
Great big Gila-monster!
Gotta love them!!
The Franklin's enjoying the beach!
Jack & Shelly
I think they know they're time is getting short
and they are beginning to feel the somberness of
it all! Soon they will be feeling the cold air
like us!! It'll be good to see them again!!
